Water Utilities

At the City of Memphis, we are committed to providing safe, high quality water services to our community, while maintaining a standard of excellence in customer service and environmental conservation.

Billing:

  • Water meters are read remotely on the 20th of every month.
  • Bills are due on the 10th of every month unless the 10th falls on a weekend or a holiday then they are due on the next business day.
  • Bills are mailed out on the last day of the month. If you do not receive your bill in a timely manner, please call the office for a copy.
  • As of October 1, 2024, there will no longer be a vacation mode for Water Customers. If you need water services shut off while you are away, please call the water office. 

Fees:

  • For new and returning customers with no delinquent bill, the water security deposit fee is $180.00 with a $15.00 connect fee.
  • For returning customers with a delinquent bill, you will need to pay your delinquent bill in full plus a water security deposit of $280.00 with a $15.00 connect fee.
  • Connect fees are put on first months bill but can be paid along with your security deposit upon request
  • Late charges on water bills have been implemented since October 2023. Bills not paid by the 20th of the month will be charged a 10% late fee.

Who can I contact after-hours about a water/sewer emergency?

You may call City Hall at (806) 259-3001. Phones are transferred after 5:00 p.m. everyday and on weekends to the Water Department after-hours phone. 

Why is my bill so high?

You could possibly have/had a running toilet, a faucet that is/was leaking, or a water leak on your property. Call City Hall and we'll work with you to find a solution to the problem.

Why do I have a previous balance on my bill when I know I paid?

We may have received your payment during billing which starts on the 20th of every month or after bills were printed. Call our office and we will help you solve the problem.

Why was my water shut off even though I made a partial payment?

If you have received a disconnection notice, you have till the date on the notice to pay the full past due balance and you must make payment arrangements for the unpaid balance prior to the shut off date on the notice. 

Why can't someone else call for me to get information regarding my account anymore?

Under Texas Utility Code, Chapter 182, Subchapter B: A Government-operated Utility may not disclose personal information in a customers account unless the customer requests that the Utility disclose the information.

If you would like anyone who is not already on your account to be able to call for information regarding your account, you will need to fill out a Disclosure of Information Request form. (above)
